Following an exhibition of works by Jean Prouve and preceding another dedicated to Jean-Michel Basquiat, STILL MOTION brings together iconic pieces by Paul Mathieu, whose work was first heralded by Andrée Putman and is now exhibited in galleries and coveted by collectors around the world.

“STILL MOTION” OPENS JAN 28th AT RALPH PUCCI, NYC
NEW YORK – On January 28th, Still Motion opens at Ralph Pucci NY, celebrating the evolution of Paul Mathieu’s artistry and the distinct sculptural lines which first caught the attention of the acclaimed gallerist.
Included in the showcase of furnishings and lighting is a sculpture by the artist’s father cast in bronze, a piece which played an instrumental and enduring role in the development of Mathieu’s characteristic style from his childhood in the French countryside through to the present day.
Highlighting the flexibility, delicacy and inherent strength of two different materials: age-old bronze and Pucci’s proprietary Plasterglass, Still Motion will be on display until May 1.
RARE WORKS ON SHOW AT GOA’S PREMIER ART CENTER
PANJIM, INDIA – Marking the return of the high season in Goa, the Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts launched “Stil Life” on October 10, 2018. The new show curated by novelist and photographer Siddharth Dhavant Shanghvi celebrates the works of Paul Mathieu alongside those of designer Gunjan Gupta.
Featuring a selection of rarely-seen and iconic Paul Mathieu designs crafted from marble, wood, and metal, the show continues through December 5, 2018.
PAUL MATHIEU AWARDED AD100
MUMBAI, INDIA – Paul Mathieu was one of the awardees at the AD100 awards, held March 28, 2018. AD100 is the annual architecture and interior design awards of Architectural Digest (AD) India, the ultimate design bible published by Condé Nast India. An arbiter of excellence, this exclusive list recognizes established icons and innovative pioneers, whose work is as inspiring as it is influential.
Paul Mathieu and Willer Gallery London continue their creative association in a new show featuring entirely new collections and additions to Mr. Mathieu’s existing furnishing, lighting and decorative art collections.
“The key inspiration for this show is the work of my late father and the newly-cast sculpture which will be, for me, the heart of the exhibition. A sort of listening was at play when I designed these new pieces, whereby edges and forms were revealed. It is also the expression of thoughts and memories through form.”

IRIS TABLE LAMP FINALIST FOR BEST OF 2017
NEW YORK, USA – The Iris table lamp, part of the newest collection of lighting by Paul Mathieu for Holly Hunt, has been selected as a finalist for Interior Design Magazine’s Best Product of the Year 2017. Winners will be announced at the Best of the Year Awards, held Friday December 1st, 2017.

PAUL MATHIEU HONORED IN AD50
MUMBAI, INDIA – On March 30th, 2017 Paul Mathieu will be awarded the coveted AD50 award by Architectural Digest India, naming him one of the 50 most influential architects and interior designers. The Gyan Museum in Jaipur, an original Paul Mathieu design, is featured in the March/April edition of the magazine.
AD COLLECTIONS PARIS TO FEATURE PAUL MATHIEU DESIGNS
PARIS, FRANCE – Celebrating the finest in furnishings and decorative arts, the third edition of AD Collections exhibition will be held at the Musée d’Art moderne in Paris from March 24 to April 2, 2017. Organized by AD magazine, this year’s exhibition focuses on important pieces created between 1937 and 2017, including a selection of bronze pieces from the Paul Mathieu ARIA collection, exhibited in partnership with Willer Gallery, London. In addition to furnishings and décor, an accompanying show of jewelry created in the inter-war period by Van Cleef and Arpels will be on view.
CELEBRATING RALPH PUCCI’S NEW SHOWROOM WITH EXCLUSIVE PIECES FROM PAUL MATHIEU
LOS ANGELES, USA – The cream of Los Angeles’ booming design community came out in force to celebrate with co-host Mayer Rus of Architectural Digest the opening of Ralph Pucci’s beautiful new 9,000+ sq ft showroom at 1025 N. McCadden Place in Hollywood on March 2.
Debuting that night was a new chair design, ELA by Paul Mathieu, along with the reintroduction of the iconic CHARLES FOSTER KANE club chair, which was originally designed for Andree Putman collection and Chateau Marmont in 1991. Today it and ELA are both exclusively available through Ralph Pucci.
BEING ORIGINAL AT ID2017 SYMPOSIUM
NEW DELHI, INDIA – In the fifth edition of India’s definitive design week, Paul Mathieu joined the panel discussion, “Be Original: Address the Need for Thoughtful and Authentic Design.” Joining him were renowned designers Ashiesh Shah, Rafaella Magiarotti and moderator Theron Carmine De Sousa. The discussion was a heartfelt examination of the creative process and the many influences which impact the life and work of designers. While each participant had their own unique perspectives on what originality means, all shared one common piece of advice to established and aspiring designers: always stay true to your vision.
India Design ID 2017 was held at the NSIC Grounds Okhla, New Delhi and was organized by Ogaan Media and Elle Decor India.
NEW DELHI, INDIA – Organizers of one of Asia’s most dynamic design events, India Design ID, have announced Paul Mathieu as one of the featured speakers at the ID Symposium being held February 16-19th, 2017 in New Delhi.
A three-day action packed event that forms part of India Design ID in New Delhi, ID Symposium offers a great platform for panel discussions, interactive sessions, debates and dialogues centered around design. Expect to find noted architects, design luminaries and creative professionals from India and around the globe, sharing ideas, knowledge and their experiences.

“TALKING BETWEEN OBJECTS” OPENS AT GYAN MUSEUM
JAIPUR, INDIA – Inaugurated in the presence of Her Highness Princess Diya Kamari of Jaipur, “Talking Between Objects” the latest show from renowned German artist Alke Reeh opened at Gyan Museum, Jaipur on November 13th, 2016. It is the first contemporary art show in the museum. Also in attendance were show’s curator Dr Arshiya Lokhandwala (of Lakeeren Gallery Mumbai) and Gyan Museum’s designer, Paul Mathieu.
Architecture and the analysis of its structures is the crux of Reeh’s practice, wherein the artist views architecture as a form of sculpture itself. The show runs until February 6, 2017.
